Olivia Yang, LCSW

Olivia Yang, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression / mood disorders, family and relationship difficulties, and women’s issues. Olivia received her Bachelors in Psychology and Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Chicago and its School of Social Service Administration. She has over 15 years of therapy experience and has provided mental health services in private practice, non-profit, community mental health, hospital and residential settings to adults, adolescents, children and families. She also has experience training, supervising and mentoring other clinicians.

Olivia utilizes a flexible, eclectic and integrative trauma-informed approach that draws upon mindfulness, attachment theory, client-centered, experiential, relational / psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), acceptance and commitment (ACT), dialectical behavioral (DBT) and ego state therapies.

Olivia is also trained and obtaining certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a holistic, mind-body approach that is highly evidence-based, considered to be a primary PTSD treatment for veterans and is used to quickly and effectively stabilize and treat first responders or those experiencing major crises like natural disasters. EMDR is very effective in treating past and current / ongoing trauma, as well as many other mental health disorders and concerns. Olivia has experience using EMDR to help heal survivors of childhood abuse, neglect or abandonment, domestic / interpersonal violence, narcissistic abuse, rape and sexual assault, and traumatic grief / loss (known as big “T” traumas), as well as those struggling with more universal issues like feeling stuck in certain negative beliefs, going through a bad break-up, difficult family relationships, a toxic work environment, or any other negative past experiences that continue to impact your life in the present (known as little “t” traumas).

Olivia strives to create a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic space that allows clients to identify and work toward their own personal goals, gain increased insight and self-awareness, and develop coping skills and strategies to better tackle life’s problems.
