Let us help you achieve peace after trauma with EMDR.
EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that uses standardized protocols to encourage the patient to briefly focus on difficult psychological events and experiences. Simultaneously, they experience bilateral eye movements that aid in reducing emotion and vividness surrounding the memory associated with the trauma.
EMDR is commonly used to treat PTSD, depression, panic attacks, and social anxiety. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue, it instead focuses on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allowing the brain to resume its natural healing process.
Therapy is a partnership and a safe place. During your initial appointment, we will discuss the reason for your visit and collaborate to identify your treatment goals. Our priority is to offer a therapeutic environment that is compassionate, empathic, and safe, while building a foundation of trust so we can work with you to achieve your goals as quickly as possible.
During EMDR the therapists and the client will work through eight phases of EMDR therapy. They will work together to identify negative image, belief, emotion, and body sensation related to the difficult event, and then to a positive belief that would indicate the issue was resolved. A typical EMDR therapy session lasts from 60-90 minutes.
