Meet Nadya Kohen (formerly Modlin), Urgent Care Specialist in Chicago
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in medicine?
Growing up in South Africa, I witnessed poverty and its impact on people’s health from a very young age. Those experiences inspired me to pursue a career in medicine so I could give back and make a meaningful difference in underserved communities.
Q: What is your approach to patient care?
I pride myself on listening carefully to my patients and truly hearing their concerns. Too often, people don’t feel listened to in healthcare. Taking the time to understand each patient’s story is essential for building trust, making the right diagnosis, and providing the best possible care.
Q: What areas of health do you specialize in?
I’m especially passionate about infectious disease. I enjoy helping patients understand their conditions, providing evidence-based care, and staying informed about the latest developments in this ever-evolving field.
Q: How do you want patients to feel after they see you?
I want every patient to leave feeling validated, informed, and confident in their care plan.
Q: How do you stay current and continue learning?
I regularly attend medical conferences to stay up to date on the latest advancements in medicine and ensure I’m providing my patients with the highest quality, evidence-based care.
Q: What is one fact people would be surprised to learn about you?
I was born and raised in South Africa.
Q: If you weren’t in medicine, what would you be doing?
I’d be opening a sanctuary for rescued pit bulls and giving them the loving home they deserve.
