U.S. Government Declares “End” of COVID

Innovative Care has been on the front lines of COVID response in Chicago since the pandemic began in March of 2020. From tents in our urgent care parking lot to multiple facilities throughout the city and suburbs, our providers have tested and treated more than 300,000 people. 

Thankfully, we’re not in the same place with COVID. Due to overall improved COVID cases/mortality, disease prevention and management, the U.S. Government is declaring an end to the COVID-19 public health emergency on May 11. This will bring several important changes that patients need to be aware of. 

What is Changing?

• Vaccines – COVID vaccines will remain free to everyone until the federal stockpile runs out.
• COVID Tests – Patients with private insurance may incur charges which were previously waived. This includes copay and coinsurance. The cost split between patients and insurers is decided by the plan you have, so it’s best to check with your insurance provider to determine what your plan covers. Innovative Care will continue to test patients at our 1111 W Diversey Parkway testing site until June 2nd. After that date, we’ll offer testing at our Urgent Care, located at 2400 N. Ashland Avenue. We will submit all claims to your insurance. 
• COVID Treatment – Medications like Paxlovid will remain free to everyone regardless of insurance status until the federal stockpile runs out. If you have tested positive for COVID and would like a prescription for Paxlovid, you can schedule a telemedicine appointment or walk-in to our 1111 W Diversey Parkway location, or our urgent care at 2400 N. Ashland Avenue.
