Alexandra Holmes, NP
Primary care + preventive care
Meet Alexandra Holmes, Primary Care provider in Chicago
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in medicine?
I have always enjoyed helping to take care of people and help make them feel their best.
Q: What is your approach to patient care?
I prefer to approach patient care in a holistic, collaborative manner. My goal is to help provide patients with options, and we work together to choose what path they feel is best suited for them and their needs.
Q: What areas of health do you specialize in?
I am very passionate about prevention. I feel each interaction with a patient is an opportunity to discuss recommended screenings, vaccinations, etc.
Q: How do you want patients to feel after they see you?
I want patients to feel that their concerns were heard and that we worked to develop a plan together.
Q: How do you stay current and continue learning?
I like to stay up to date by reading medical journals and discussing cases with other providers. If I find a topic that I do not feel well versed in, I make myself a note to review the literature on that topic.
Q: What is one fact people would be surprised to learn about you?
I was a fastpitch softball pitcher. I played through college on an athletic scholarship. Now I love to stay active with my husband (Tim) through activities such as skiing, volleyball, and soccer.
Q: If you weren’t in medicine, what would you be doing?
When deciding on a career, I was torn between nursing and teaching. If I did not pursue a career in medicine, I would love to be working as a first or second grade teacher.
